GSTN issued Important Letter on Migration of CBIC to GSTN Back Office

The GSTN has issued an important letter (F. No. GSTN/PMO/CBIC/2023 dated May 22, 2024) to the Chief Commissioner/Commissioner of State Taxes regarding the migration of CBIC to the GSTN Back Office.

We are pleased to inform you that starting from June 1, 2024, the CBIC will transition to the GSTN Back Office.

During the migration process, new registration applications are either marked for ‘deemed approval’ or assigned to the counterpart tax administration. For CBIC, it has been decided that all new registration applications submitted between May 25 and May 31, 2024, will be assigned to the relevant State tax administrations. Consequently, State tax administrations should anticipate an increase in new registration applications during this period.

These taxpayers will continue to be assigned to the States in the future, so any necessary preparations to handle the increased workload should be made at the state level. This information is provided for your awareness and necessary action.
